Ebbers Viticultural Services

I learned early on in my career that it was important to ask "why" before jumping to "how". That habit has shaped a career spent chasing Pinot Noir across four hemispheres: New Zealand, California, Tasmania, and Oregon.
The range of terroir I've worked in has taught me something a single region can't: that a vineyard problem is rarely just a vineyard problem. Understanding the full arc, from what's happening in the soil, to what happens in the cellar, to what actually moves in the marketplace, is what separates a good vintage from a sustainable business.
That principle of asking "why" also means I don't start from a rulebook. I have experience farming organic, biodynamic, sustainable, and regenerative, but I start with the site in front of me. Every vineyard's right path looks a little different, and the goal is a plan that actually fits the land and the people farming it.I lead with candid assessments, honest conversation, and persistent, hands-on service that catches problems while they're still small. There's always a moment to stop and notice what's genuinely beautiful about a working system, because that's usually why any of us got into this in the first place.

About Peter

I grew up in Vermont hiking and nordic skiing, studied History and English at the College of William and Mary, and earned a postgraduate degree in Oenology and Viticulture at Lincoln University in New Zealand. I've worked with wine grapes for over two decades in Virginia, California, New Zealand, Tasmania, and since 2012, in Oregon.

Winegrowing continues to hold my fascination because of the ever-shifting circumstances and conditions that can change the priorities for the grower. Each season is an opportunity to learn and improve collaboration between the environment, plants, and growers.I approach each relationship with my clients as a partnership, working together to build holistic solutions, problem solving with winemaking and farming teams, and providing a comprehensive evaluation of outcomes.
